Best Mirrorless Camera Bag // Lowepro GearUp Creator Box XL II

In this video, I show you the Best Mirrorless Camera Bag – the recently released Lowepro GearUp Creator Box XL II.
I go through some of the reasons why I bought it and why it is ideal for anyone who has a large mirrorless camera with a large lens – In my case the Panasonic S1 with a Smallrig cage and 24-105mm zoom lens.

If you’re like me and you’ve got a large mirrorless camera with a large lens attached and you’re looking for the smallest bag possible, then I think this might be the bag for you.

Now, this is the Lowepro Gear Up Creator Box XL Mark II and I have a Panasonic S1 camera with a small rig cage around it. So, I was looking for the smallest bag that I could get away with that would house the camera with the cage and a couple of other accessories because I didn’t want to take out all these big monstrosity of bags around with me if I just wanted to take the camera around with me.

I bought this thing out of my own money; it cost about £45 / 50 USD and I was targeted by a Facebook ad from Lowepro in which I saw that this could take a large Sony A9 camera and a 70-200mm lens. Then I started looking into it a bit more carefully and I saw that the internal dimensions could fit my Panasonic S1 with a cage and a few other bits and bobs in it.

So, this has got two ways of accessing the camera in the bag. Now, one is through this quick door entry system that they’ve created so you can just open up the top section and you have access to just your camera or whatever it is that you want to take out without having to open up the rest of the bag. Now, in this section alone, you’ve got two memory card holders so you can have like maybe a CFexpress and an SD card in here, and it’s providing you with a handle so you can hold the thing here.

The second way of opening this is you can put it down and unlock the quick door set and then continue unzipping and then when you open this, you have access to everything else. The rest of the bag so you have a pocket on the front here to keep anything in that you want.

You also have a see-through pocket for cables and lens caps on the front as well. The bag comes with multiple inserts and a nice rigid insert as well to separate the camera and anything that you need.

So my camera just sits in this section over here. I’ve got the flash in this section. I’ve even got a little bag or should I say a little wallet to keep some filters in. Some batteries for the flash, some batteries for the camera and I’ve got a wireless microphone and I’ve got some chargers, you name it. You can put quite a few bits and bobs.

Now according to what Lowepro website says you can have a camera, you can have a drone in this pocket, you can have a lens or two depending on what your setup is like and how big your cameras are. But I think it’s a good case especially for my needs and I forgot to tell you that this has got a little compartment at the back as well.

One thing that this thing is lacking is what I would say is straps to put on your shoulder because it’s just got this handle here and it has just this handle here. So what I did was I purchased a small rig quick release system. So this is normally for straps on cameras or wrist strap as you saw on my camera but this allows me to clip on my camera strap and turn it into a nice shoulder strap for the bag. That also means that wherever I go with this my camera strap is always with me.

Now this can be placed into say your carry-on luggage or into your main luggage or you can put it into a rucksack.
